Basic concepts, absorption, emission, simplified radiation transfer, the spectrum of solar radiation, solar constant, the determination of the solar constant, the distribution of solar radiation on the top of the atmosphere, absorption in the UV, visible and infrared regions, Rayleigh scattering, Mie scattering, the radiation budget of the Earth-atmosphere system, the radiation budget of Hungary, the surface instruments of radiation measurements.

The basic concepts of atmospheric electricity, the atmospheric electric circuit, electric phenomena in the fair weather zone, the properties of clouds, the formation of cloud elements (homogeneous and heterogeneous condensation), the formation of precipitation elements (diffusive growth and coagulation), cloud types (stratus, cumulus, thunderstorm clouds), their dynamics, microphysics and electric structure, lightning, weather radars and lightning localization systems.
