Dr. László FELMÉRY (Budapest, 1931. július 17. - Budapest, 2021. december 21.)



LÁSZLÓ FELMÉRY graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University in 1953 with a degree in Geography and History. Later, in 1962, he also completed his Mathematics degree. He was a Meteorologist. Until his retirement in 1991, he was an associate professor at the Department of Meteorology at the Eötvös Loránd University. He obtained his doctorate in 1962 with his dissertation entitled "Investigations of the moisture conditions of air layers near the ground". During his teaching career, he taught Climatology and gave climatological exercises to generations of meteorologists and geography students. He regularly participated in field exercises. In the 1960s, the climate of the Bakony was studied under his leadership. He wrote university lecture notes, he was responsible for and instructed the second level senior officer Meteorologist courses organized on behalf of the Hungarian Armed Forces. His most popular note was Climatology, written jointly with Zoltán Dobosi. Orientation in the international literature was aided by his note "Meteorological Texts in Russian and English". He was an active member of the Hungarian Meteorological Society, at a time as a member of the board. He received the award Excellent Teacher of Higher Education. In 1996, the Minister of the Environment awarded him the Pro Meteorology Commemorative Plaque. In recognition of his professional activities in the field of natural sciences, he had a Gold, Diamond and Iron Diploma.
